Wine tasting challenge in Teatropatron
Last week we returned to Teatropatron. On a menu we saw lots of wine listing. Then the waiter came to us and asked us to have challenge. The challenge before us was to try to guess the wine by drinking it wirh our eyes covered.
We went to the Enoteca Balor (at Calle Príncipe de Vergara), where the owner advised us perfectly and we wrote a tasting of 5 wines interesting in our opinion.we Buy 5 bottles ínbamos by thinking that we are 8 people but in the end we were only 7.
The event began with a wine “uncovered” that we invited Miguel. A great wine that we all loved (even a detractor of chamomile). With that accompany a delicious Teatropatron.
The blind tasting (except for those who had bought the wine, we knew even the order) . Michael thought it was a muscat wine or some similar and certainly knew and smelled like. This wine is very rare and nobody knew it but it was good to start. Along with this wine had a Teatropatron as excellent as always.
The next wine was Terra do Gargalo 2006. Miguel sensed it was a Galician grape and chose first the albariño. Cuandijimos than hot, hot if you hit it was a wine grape godello (though not entirely). With this came a Marmitako Tuna Symptoms that estba a movie “strong” (demasisado spicy) at least for my taste. Along with the marmitako we also take the next wine. It was a French wine from Burgundy, Château de Beauregard – Pouilly Fuissé “Classique” 2006. Here Miguel do that right the first time it was a chardonnay, but said it looked like Spanish to be lacking acidity. He was surprised to see that wine was, as he has in a letter.Very good, in the line of white Burgundy.
Then we took another Spanish wine, Ossian 2006. A Verdejo, and it seemed that we became too alcoholic and as good as we sold him. Miguel said he had decpcionado in the blind tasting (just like the rest of us). As well we talked about him supongoi will improve over time as it is designed as a white guard, but right now it does not justify his reputation (and price) to my knowledge. Along with this wine had a rice with tuna which was delicious and just despite the lateness of the dinner and the four dishes we got generous.
Finally, and to accompany the traditional cheese board (Bauma, 2 Italians, Epoisses de Bourgogne, Cabra de Aracena, Huelva and Majorero Fuerteventura) opened the last bottle of the night and I liked the most to me personally. It was a French wine Chidaine François “Le Bouchet” 2006 Vouvray. A wine that we all loved, Miguel included (by the way, I do not know). The nose was fine, but in the mouth was excelentlente. A great find (and at the same price as Ossian, for example).
After this the usual coffee and “Peace Commission” must have the well stocked cellar of distillates Teatropatron (Citadelle gin and tonics, Matusalem and Cokes of Zacapa …).
In short a very pleasant evening as usual. Maybe we drank a little more than necessary, since 6 uncork bottles of wine and drinking were 8 (counting Miguel), plus drinks, but hey, one day is one day.
